Who looks after your information
Easier Ways is maintained by Prudent Plus Limited. For data-protection purposes, Prudent Plus Limited is the controller of personal information sent directly to this site. Our postal address is Booths Hall, Booths Park, Chelford Road, Knutsford, Cheshire WA16 8GS. The company is registered in England and Wales under number 10104295 and with the Information Commissioner's Office under registration ZB208127.
If anything in this notice is unclear, or you want to ask how your information has been handled, please use our contact page. We will try to answer in straightforward language.
What information we may receive
You can read the site without giving us your name. If you contact us, we may receive your name, email address, telephone number if you include it, the contents of your message and any later correspondence. Your enquiry may also describe a disability, health condition, home adaptation or support need. That sort of information can be sensitive, so please send only the details needed for us to understand the question.
Please do not send medical records, benefit letters, bank or card details, identity documents, passwords or copies of keys. If another person is the subject of an enquiry, please make sure they are happy for you to share their details, unless you have a lawful reason to act for them.
When somebody visits the site, the hosting and security services may record routine technical details such as an IP address, browser type, requested page, date and time, and information about errors or suspected misuse. We do not use that information to build advertising profiles.
Why we use personal information
We use enquiry details to read and answer your message, keep enough of the conversation to deal with follow-up questions, protect the site, handle complaints and meet legal duties. Our usual lawful bases are legitimate interests in running a helpful and secure information service, taking steps you have asked us to take, and complying with the law.
If an enquiry includes health or disability information, we will handle it carefully and only when data-protection law allows. We may ask you to remove unnecessary detail. We do not use sensitive information for advertising, and we do not sell personal information or mailing lists.
We do not send marketing email merely because somebody has asked a question. If we ever offer an optional mailing list, it will have its own clear sign-up choice and a simple way to unsubscribe.
Referrals and other organisations
If you ask us to help identify a suitable specialist or supplier, we will explain the proposed referral before passing on your contact details. We will share only the information reasonably needed for that purpose. An independent provider becomes responsible for its own use of your information and should give you its own privacy information.
Information may also be processed by trusted organisations that help us operate the website, email service and security arrangements. They may only use it for the agreed service. We may disclose information to professional advisers, insurers, regulators, law-enforcement bodies or courts when that is reasonably necessary or legally required. We do not give personal information to unrelated organisations for their own marketing.
Cookies, links and information processed abroad
This version of Easier Ways does not use advertising cookies or behavioural tracking. Essential technology may still be used to deliver pages safely, balance traffic or remember a setting that you have requested. If non-essential cookies or analytics are introduced, we will explain them and provide an appropriate choice before they are used.
Our pages link to councils, charities, public bodies and other independent websites. Their privacy notices apply when you visit them. Some organisations that support our website or email may process information outside the UK. If that happens, we require an appropriate UK data-protection safeguard or rely on another lawful transfer mechanism.
How long we keep information and how we protect it
We keep personal information only while it remains useful for the reason it was collected. An ordinary enquiry and related correspondence will normally be reviewed for deletion within 24 months of the last meaningful contact. A record may be kept longer if it is needed to deal with a complaint, a legal claim, fraud prevention, accounting or another legal duty. Routine security logs are generally kept for a much shorter period, although the exact period can depend on the hosting provider and a current security need.
We use reasonable organisational and technical measures intended to prevent unauthorised access, accidental loss or misuse. No email or internet service can be promised as completely secure. If you think you have sent something sensitive by mistake, contact us promptly and tell us what was sent.
Your data-protection rights
Depending on the situation, you may ask for a copy of your personal information, correction of inaccurate details, deletion, restriction of use, transfer of information you supplied, or an objection to processing based on legitimate interests. You may also withdraw consent where consent is the basis being used. These rights are not absolute, but we will explain our decision if a legal exception applies.
There is normally no charge. We may need enough information to confirm your identity before acting on a request. Please contact us first if you are unhappy with how we have used your details; we would like the chance to put matters right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes to this notice
We will update this page if the site begins collecting information in a different way or the law changes. The current wording published here applies when you use the site. A significant change will be explained clearly rather than hidden in the small print.
